Welcome Welcome to Kungälv and Bohus fortress. Each summer we arrange Kungahälla Medieval festival. Friday - Sunday week 29. Come listen to music and see the jesters perform, make the ultimate time travel and visit the market, magical alley and the oriental playground down by the pond. Watch as the thundering horses come out on to the tournament play arena with brave knights ready to jaust. Craftsmen and merchants of all kinds from Sweden and Europe, furtune tellers, sausage wranglers and all in between will catch your eye at the merchants row, and if your thirsty or hungry make your way to the court yard for some good eating and a nice cold beer. Do you want to participate with your crafts in 2009? Download THIS FILE and send it in to us. If you haven't participated before we also need photos of your crafts. Find us During the festival 17th – 19th of July there are many visitors that come to Kungälv. With experience from the last six years we know that traffic is a problem and especially when it comes to finding places to park and long queues. Therefore we want to recommend our visitors to use the public transport as much as possible. Green express bus takes you as close as Eriksdal from where there are only a few hundred yards until you reach the fortress. The bus takes approximately 20 minutes from Göteborg to Kungälv. Other buses/trams and information about prices and timetables can be found at Västtrafik We have very few parking spaces near the fortress. As a visitor/tourist to the Medieval festival, parking by the fortress is not an option since that area is closed off. Visitors by car will be redirected to parking spaces in Kungälv, just follow the green/yellow event signs. Please be advised that all the validation of your parking will be controlled more closely during this weekend. Directions by car From the south: Take E6 north from Göteborg towards Oslo. Take the first exit to Kungälv (Jordfallsmotet Kungälv S). Continue straight ahead. When you come to the gas station just before the bridge you have a large parking lot on your right hand side (Eriksdal). On the other side of the bridge lies Bohus fortress. If the parking lot is occupied continue straight ahead past the fortress to central Kungälv and then follow the green/yellow event signs. From the north: Take E6 towards Göteborg. Take a left at Kungälvsmotet and continue towards central Kungälv. Take the first right towards Vita Fläcken shopping centre. Parking is available at Kungahälla High School (turn right at the first roundabout) or by the swim/ice centre Oasen (turn right at the second roundabout).
